| Brief Description |
Article 29 of Law 4052/2012 established, for the first time in Greek legislation, the definition of homeless people as a vulnerable social group entitled to social protection. This legislative provision laid the foundation for the development of a policy area that had been largely underdeveloped in Greece, as the tools available to central and local authorities for implementing social protection programmes for this target group, as well as for its registration and monitoring, were extremely limited. The project will fund the design of a methodology and the development of appropriate information systems and tools for the registration of homeless people and for facilitating the work of public authorities and other stakeholders. The aim is to simplify and optimise the procedures required for the provision of high-quality services to the homeless population, enable the extraction of reliable data throughout all stages of the design and implementation of relevant policies, and improve the coordination of the services provided. More specifically, the project aims to: (a) establish unified and institutionalised procedures for the registration and monitoring of homeless people, in cooperation with all public and social service providers working with homeless people, supported by a unified information system; (b) coordinate procedures for referring housing-related and other requests between service providers; (c) facilitate homeless people's access to services; and (d) develop information and public awareness tools.
