Brief Description IDIKA S.A. is responsible for maintaining the National AMKA Registry, a web-based application through which every citizen of Greece has been required, since 1 June 2009, to possess a Social Security Number (AMKA) as a prerequisite for employment, social insurance coverage, and, more generally, for obtaining all types of social benefits, allowances and welfare assistance. Citizens were informed of their AMKA through the printing and distribution of Social Security Cards (KKA) to directly insured individuals. The AMKA is issued by IDIKA S.A. through the Citizen Service Centres (KEP). A certificate confirming the assigned AMKA is provided to the applicant by the KEP or is sent to the applicant under the responsibility of the General Secretariat for Social Insurance. The implementation of a unified Social Security Number constitutes a key prerequisite for the integration of the social insurance organizations, reducing pension award processing times, modernizing the social insurance system, facilitating citizens' transactions with public services, and improving the quality of services provided to citizens.
