The Joint Action OriON was presented at a dedicated roundtable during the European Public Health Conference, co-organised by Sciensano and the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies. The session explored how EU Member States are implementing Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan, with a focus on monitoring progress, strengthening patient involvement, and addressing persistent inequalities in cancer care.
As part of the panel, Robbe Saesen introduced the OriON analytical framework, which aims to provide a structured overview of national cancer control systems across the EU. The framework supports the assessment of each country’s state of play in implementing Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan, identifying challenges, gaps, and opportunities for targeted policy action.
By offering evidence-based insights and a harmonised methodology, OriON contributes to improving transparency and supporting decision-makers on enhancing the effectiveness of cancer control across the European Union.
